Gunnerkrigg Court

Scott McCloud pointed me to this webcomic by Tom Siddell. It’s sorta like Harry Potter, but the kids aren’t wizards in training. If you’re a fan of that series of books (of which I haven’t read a one, but have heard your recommendations), you should enjoy this series. Enjoy! http://www.gunnerkrigg.com/index2.php

A meme, but not mine…

I’m not a meme person, but there are people here that enjoy this kind of thing so I thought I would send a note about one from our dear friend . http://st-sardonicist.livejournal.com/283615.html List five bands or albums or songs that you are genuinely embarrassed to have liked in the past. iMac Review…

For those of you interested in that sort of thing, Eric Bangeman over at Ars Technica has a review of the new Intel-based iMac. Lalato (pronounced LAH LAH tow) is my childhood nickname. It’s common in Brazilian families to give people nicknames. Many times the names are nonsense words, as in my name.…

Covers

Scott McCloud had an interesting post over on his blog today… http://scottmccloud.com/comics/mi/mi.html#12-22 “12/22: Just heard Magnet’s great cover version of “Lay Lady Lay” (iTunes has it if you’re curious). It got me thinking about my favorite covers. Way too many to mention, but a few that really changed the song in interesting ways for me…

Christmas vs. Jesus…

I spoke to someone the other day that didn’t like a particular Christmas card. What was on the offending Christmas card? Jesus. That’s right, the card referenced Jesus… for which the holiday is named, by the way. Maybe it’s my southern baptist upbringing, but I found it odd that someone could really enjoy celebrating Christmas…
