Went to Ichetucknee Springs yesterday with
Wow, I hadn’t been there in about… oh… 25 years! It’s still as pristine and beautiful as I remember it. The main difference is that you can’t go up on the banks and jump off if you want, but that’s probably for the best. You also can’t bring anything but your tube. All other items will be confiscated!
There was supposed to be a 40% chance of afternoon showers yesterday, but by some fluke of nature, it started to rain when we arrived at 9:00 AM. Downpour… with LIGHTNING! We were determined to have a lazy day on the river so we waited a bit until the rain let up.
The water was COLD!!!! 72 degrees year round. Once we got settled I started showing off my mad tubing skillz! Hell yeah! A great time was had by all. Beautiful scenery and good friends. The only thing that could have made it better was beer. 😉
We made it home after a nice dinner at Red Lobster, though I probably would have been happier if we had eaten in the small town (High Springs) next to Ichetucknee. Not complaining, though. My meal was yummy… and the beer was even better. 🙂

Pshaw
I am the TUBE COMMANDER
One last trip down the river before you move to the frozen north?
I remember going down past the getting out point to the bridge and jumping off the trestle. Of course that was years ago when I was much younger and dumber.
Yeah… we’re trying to do some of those quintessential “Florida” things that we may not get a chance to do for a long time. I remember jumping in from one of the trees on the banks of the river. They don’t let you do that anymore. 😉
