I told my boss today about the potential move to Champaign-Urbana, IL. She was shocked at first, but her second reaction was…
“I’ll talk to [her boss] and see if we can’t find something for you there. Maybe you can work from home or something.”
Now isn’t that exactly what you would want to here your boss say in a situation like that. I nominate [insert my boss’ name here] as the best boss ever. 😀
Now I’m not saying that this will actually result in me staying with the largest newspaper in America. The chances of finding a position for me to fill up there are slim. In this case it’s the thought that counts.

Wow—- That definitely is the ideal thing for a boss to say in that situation. I am sure that it would not be easy for them to envision losing you from the company either. I know you are a valuable asset to the company & the people there & I am sure they will try hard to keep you.
