Like many people I’ve been debating a switch from Yahoo Mail to Google Mail (gmail). I even have a gmail account for testing. I like gmail, but it’s never quite been enough to push me over the edge and switch. Keep in mind that I have a couple of years worth of e-mail on Yahoo so a switch isn’t all that easy.

The only feature of gmail that I really like is that when I search through my messages it also looks through my “spam” folder. Yahoo doesn’t allow me to do that. If you think something is stuck in your “spam” folder, you have to do the painstaking work of finding it manually. Yeah… that’s right. Manually.

The interface for gmail also has a few ease of use advantages. Well, at least it did have some advantages until Yahoo released the beta version of their new interface. If you’ve ever worked with a desktop e-mail program like Outlook, you’ll recognize some of the interface features. I think, however, that Yahoo has done a pretty good job of marrying a desktop app interface with a web-based one. Kudos to Yahoo.

OK… Yahoo! You have a new lease on life. Allow me to search my spam folder and you might hear me saying, “Google… who?”
