Howdy everyone…
In 2000, I voted for a viable third party. I felt I was voting for a better America when I cast my ballot for the Green Party. All I wanted was a third Party to get the magical 5% of the vote. I wanted to help create a new political landscape. As you know, those dreams were dashed here in my home state of Florida. In the end, the Green Party did not get the magical 5% of the national vote that would have helped make it a viable option in future elections. Nearly a year later the world changed forever.
To be honest with you, in 2000, I wasn’t concerned with George W. Bush. Sure, I thought the whole vote count thing was a bit ridiculous. But I honestly felt at the time that as long as nothing drastic happened, his presidency would only be a faint blip on the radar.
Well… times certainly have changed. Mr. Bush has made some serious mistakes that I simply can’t ignore, nor abide. Though I would still like to see a viable third party (heck… even a fourth party), I can’t in good conscience vote for a third party candidate in this election. The stakes are too high.
With that said… I’ve decided to join MoveOn.org in their fight to help John Kerry get elected. I’ll be honest here… I didn’t vote for Kerry in the primary. I didn’t even have a first choice… I was deciding between Howard Dean and Dennis Kucinich. Unfortunately, by the time it came for Florida to vote in the primary, Howard Dean had made his primal scream and John Kerry had locked up almost every other primary. The nominee had been decided long before I had a chance to cast my ballot.
Now that I’ve gotten to know Kerry a little more, I see he’s not a bad chap. I think he would make a good president. I wouldn’t vote for him if I thought otherwise. I’m not one to pick the lesser of two evils. If I honestly thought Kerry would be bad for America, I would go ahead and cast my ballot for a third party, just as I did in 2000. Fortunately, that’s not the case. The bonus, of course, is he is the most likely person to beat Bush in November.
Now that you know my reasons… Here is where I plug the Leave No Voter Behind campaign (if you’ve read this far, you must be serious). Below my sig is the canned script from MoveOn so that I might recruit a few friends to the cause. Even if you can’t volunteer, the most important thing is that you get to the polls and vote (hopefully for Kerry).
Love,

p.s. This was crossposted to a couple of places, so I’m sorry if you see this more than once.

MoveOn PAC is launching a new campaign called Leave No Voter Behind. Their goal is to turn out 440,000 additional votes for Kerry from 10,000 targeted neighborhoods in key battleground states like ours.
Right now MoveOn is looking for key volunteers who will take responsibility for regularly contacting a targeted group of local voters, educating them about issues, and making sure they vote. I signed up and I hope you will too. Click here to sign up:

By working with MoveOn and thousands of other volunteers we CAN make a difference and take our country back. This is our chance to make history.
Hope you can help!
Interestingly. I joined MoveOn.org a while back.
Good… I hope you plan on voting in November for Kerry. 🙂
That’s the plan thus far.
Sweet! You made my day. 🙂
